2025: Turbine Creative - Year in Review

Updated: Jan 1

Some highlights from a challenging year full of evolution, adaptation, new clients and award wins.

2025 marked the 5 year anniversary of Turbine Creative. The company was founded 2 months before covid lockdown at an incredibly tough time to start a business. So looking back 5 years later, we feel really proud to have reached this significant milestone.

Ironically, despite beginning during lockdown, 2025 has perhaps been one of the most challenging years so far for Turbine Creative, and this seems to have been reflected across the sector. Contracting client budgets, the impact of AI generated content and a shifting of marketing spend. HOWEVER, despite a very tough year, with hard business decisions and adaptations to how we work, there have been some great successes; exciting new client wins, industry awards, overseas filming projects, event speaking opportunities, continual service innovations and Winter Olympics work, to name just a few!

So that’s your top level overview… here’s some of the highlights in a little more detail:

SUPPORTING A BRAND EVOLUTION - 140 YEARS IN THE MAKING

Following a competitive tender we won the contract to support a prominent engineering institution as they explored a possible evolution of their brand. With over 3000 members, The Permanent Way Institute has served the railway engineering community as the Permanent Way Institution (PWI) for over 140 years. But they believed the name has now lost the significance it once had (permanent way refers to the rail track) so asked us to support them as they explored a new name, updated vision, mission and values and ultimately transition across to a new name. The video we created below was created to take members through this process before a members' vote took place late in 2025.

Overview video of the Brand Evolution

A year prior to the members vote, we conducted large scale surveys (in-person and digital), leadership workshops, filmed members’ stories at national rail events and conferences. And created impactful video and social media content explaining the reasons for this potential change.

After over a year of this brand + comms support work, thousands of members voted on this potential name change in December 2025. The result: Over 75% of members voted for change!

SPEAKING AT TECH FOR GOOD

Throughout our work in healthcare and elite sport we are constantly aware of the importance of making our content as accessible and clear for all. So we were delighted to have the opportunity to speak at the Tech For Good Festival 2025 on the theme of inclusion and accessibility where we were able to share our experiences and insights in this area.

To support our thoughts we interviewed Dan Powell, the current Paralympic World Champion Judo athlete at his GNR8 gym in Loughborough to find out what his insights and lived experience were of digital inclusion and accessibility.

You can find out more about the content and loads of practical tips we shared on our blog post entitled: Opening Up Digital Worlds: Why Accessibility and Inclusion are Essential for Creative Content

TRAVEL AND MORE TRAVEL!

2025 was another great year for getting out and about to capture lots of great video content for our clients. Travelling all over Britain and overseas filming for clients such as Innovate UK, Sport England, multiple NHS Trusts, the PWI and Rolls-Royce SMR to name a few. You can see some behind the scenes shots below:

We filmed case study videos as well as promotional sales content for these clients in some pretty cool locations - from quarries to science laboratories, London skyscrapers and County Hall (across from the Houses of Parliament, Westminster), Scottish coastlines as well as various industrial parks across the country!...

ANOTHER AWARD WIN

We were super pleased to hear that another one of our healthcare projects won at the Picker Awards (used to be Patient Experience Network Awards).

The LS Guide we worked in partnership with Bristol University, University of Nottingham and East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust won Communicating Effectively with Patients and Families. We created 6 videos, multiple illustrations, anatomical diagrams as well as website and social media content for this brilliant project.

CONTINUAL LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT

2025 was another big year for AI content generation and the mass influx of AI generated image and video becoming mainstream. We have used AI tools for many years but as part of our ongoing desire to understand the implications of this tech we conducted our own research into the energy usage of AI video.

The results were quite startling and horrifying, and have caused an ongoing dialogue online.

Following this internal research on the energy impact of AI we were invited by the University of Nottingham to explore their Virtual and Immersive Production Studio where along with other researchers and film makers we explored their AI lens technology that apporaches data and energy usage in a completely different way. Read more about that here.

MEET FOR GOOD

We’re always on the look out for networking groups that not only bring together experienced professionals, but also add something positive back to the community and wider society. Helping us fulfil one of our core values of giving back.

We were first introduced to the Meet for Good networking group by a client as they knew we would enjoy its sport-centric focus. Meet for Good hosts Business Breakfast events featuring guests from the worlds of sport and high-performance, who share compelling experiences and insights with real business relevance whilst also opening up opportunities to support charitable organisations working with vulnerable people.

Highlights this year have been Rugby World Cup Winner Jason Robinson and Polar Explorer Preet Chandi.

We are now supporting Meet For Good with their video and social media content. Some of which you can see below.

WINTER OLYMPICS AND WINTER PARALYMPICS

We were super excited to again support the UK Sport Institute Mental Health team as they provided resources for athletes heading off to the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games. We worked with them to create an athlete 90+ page athlete journal to support well being and mental health. The Journal contains illustrations we created as well as puzzles and challenges created by Paralympian Claire Taggart.

DENTAL SOCIAL MEDIA SERVICE

Finally, the start of 2026 marks the launch of our new Dental Social Media Solutions.

Having worked with multiple private healthcare and dental practices throughout 2025, we have identified the need for cost effective impactful social media content. All based around a simple subscription plan. We take our unique, award-winning healthcare comms experience and produce social media content that has proven impact.

An example of this success was seen in Measham Dental, who saw;

  • 14,000 views of content in the first 2 months. Increased by 347%

  • 2,100% increase in length of viewing time

  • 3000 views of new instagram content in the first month…

  • 171 unique patient comment interactions per month

We’re excited to start promoting this new social media subscription service that will bring real impact to many organisations in 2026, who currently don't have the time, resources or experience to make a difference on their social media platforms. Watch this space for more information soon...

And so that completes our quick summary of 2025.

We hope you’ve enjoyed reading about some of these quick summaries. We’re looking forward to starting 2026 with fresh energy and growing ambition, helping our clients share the very best of who they are and what they can offer to the world!

If there’s anything we can support you with, whether that’s marketing content creation or shaping your communication strategy, we’d be delighted to explore any upcoming projects you have in mind.

From all at Turbine Creative, we wish you the very best for a productive, peaceful and fulfilling 2026!
