Nottingham Casuals Rugby:
Promotional Video
A highly creative project where we were able to mix filmed content and animation to promote this 100 year old rugby team to all ages, genders and abilities.

The Brief
Nottingham Casuals Rugby club approached us to create a series of videos to help promote the club to new players and sponsors. Based in Beeston Rylands, Nottingham, the club is a foundation of the local community and brings together all players of different ages, abilities and genders.
They're proud to be a family friendly club whose values of integrity, courage and respect flow throughout their weekly activities of training, matches and social events and they wanted video content that reflected this positivity.
Having been established for over 100 years they wanted a suite of promotional content that both highlighted the clubs history and also showed that they were a rugby club in the present day and full of ambition, positive values and aspiration.

Our Solution
Our solution was to firstly show the stakeholder group at Nottingham Casuals Rugby Team a moodboard of videos and stylistic treatments that we thought were pertinent to the style they wanted to convey in these videos.
After we had been though these moodboards and stylesheets we agreed on the sort of filming style we would use. This came down to a mix of interview footage, in-match filming and night time stylised filming with florescent purple tubes, smoke bombs and lots of slow motion. We used both GoPro cameras, gimbal-stabilised slow motion and tripod mounted cameras with super long lenses to get close to the action.
The logistics of making sure we covered all of the age groups and genders in both live match situations, training sessions and as part of the night time 'smoke bomb' shoot was quite intensive and required filming on many different days across a couple of months.
After we had captured all of this content we then set to editing it all down to 1 master promotional video and then multiple social media videos to promote the whole club and then shorter videos for each key age group.
