Para Performance Campaign
Concept design and layout of a new strategy document and promotional material, specifically for the Paralympic community. Supporting performance ambitions in Paris 2024 and beyond.

The Brief
The primary goal is to unite the Para sport community under a common vision for the future—achieving world-leading Para performance sport where athletes can thrive, excel, and win—while fostering greater collaboration to bring about real and lasting change.
This Paralympic framework, spearheaded by UK Sport, was developed with contributions from over 60 members of the high-performance community, including representatives from sports organisations, athletes, and stakeholders.
Great Britain has experienced a remarkable period of success in Para sport, with ParalympicsGB securing a top-three finish in the medal table at every Summer Paralympics since the turn of the millennium.
With this in mind, we were asked to develop a consistent look and feel for this strategy document and produce a digital, shareable document including a fully accessible, stripped out version. The document needed to have real standout with relevant imagery throughout in order to increase visibility and recognition of Paralympic Sport amongst the high-performance community. There needed to be a consideration for how this document would then be adapted for the visually impaired audience also.

Our Solution
We presented multiple options for the document's overall look and feel (front cover, sample spread, treatment of data) and developed the chosen route into a 22 page fully navigational PDF document, including contents, section headers, timeline infographic on the ‘story so far’ and Annex. Given the target audience, a second scaled down version was created to deliver the highest level of universal accessibility to readers.
The alternative accessible version we created meets all the Adobe Acrobat accessibility checker standards: Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 and PDF/UA (Universal Access, or ISO 14289). This version also takes on the format styling and function that was previously approved by UKSI, in consultation with Rob Aubry - Head Coach British Para-Swimming and his VI athletes in relation to the text readers they use and the requirements his team has.
2023 was a big year for para sport with 7 para events making it an exciting opportunity to launch the Para Performance Strategy to the Paralympic Community. The design was developed in collaboration with working groups from UK Sport and PPIG (Project Paralympic Impact Group), giving a wide circulation of the new Framework in 2023 and beyond.
